I took out a big Bradford Pear tree out of the back corner of our backyard this past winter after it dropped 3 large branches over the past few years. It has caused damage to our fence a couple of times. The last straw was this past winter when one Saturday morning Jenn and I had just finished eating breakfast and I looked out of the kitchen window to discover that it had dropped one of it's largest limbs on one of my beloved Japanese Maples. I had the chainsaw out by lunchtime...
I decided to put a Weeping Willow (my second favorite tree, after Japanese Maples of course) in it's place. I had a couple of friends who frequent nurseries for their businesses keep an eye out for a good size tree. The day after Jenn left for China Jimbo surprised me and stopped by with the perfect size and shaped tree. I decided to wait until Jenn returned with Kanah to plant it, I thought it could be "her tree" We could watch it grow as she does, much like the Japenese Maple in my folks front yard that grew as I did.
Anyway, I planted it yesterday which happened to be Earth Day as well...how fitting
p.s. please ignore the dandelions in the background that resemble anything you remember from Jack and the Beanstalk...it's the back corner of my backyard, give me a break I gotta sleep sometime!
